KAHIL EL'ZABAR WINS SECOND
CONSECUTIVE JAZZ JOURNALISTS ASSOCIATION AWARD
FOR "PERCUSSIONIST OF THE YEAR"
NEW YORK, NY -- Delmark recording artist Kahil El'Zabar has won his second consecutive
"Percussionist of the Year" award at the Jazz Journalists Association
(JJA) "Jazz Award 2003" ceremonies held Wednesday, June 25, 2003, at
B.B. King's Bar and Grill in New York City. The Jazz Awards 2003 represent
excellence and accomplishment in performance, recording, presentation and
documentation of jazz during the year April 1, 2002 to April 1, 2003.
The Jazz Awards 2003 is the seventh annual presentation of honors for excellence
in jazz music and jazz journalism, produced by the Jazz Journalists
Association. The JJA has approximately 400 members comprised of editors,
writers, photographers, radio producers and program hosts, film and video makers
and multimedia professionals involved with jazz music-mostly in the U.S. but
also in Canada, the UK, Europe, Australia, South Africa and Russia.
