No deep thinking this week 'cause I'm sick as a dog. I can't remember the
last time I missed a gig because of illness, but I finally threw in the towel
and subbed out of the Mill last night (thanks to Karl Seigfried for bailing
me out at literally the 12th hour). Every joint in my body feels like it's
played a thousand choruses of Cherokee. My head feels like I've been backing
up Jimmy Damon for a year. I probably look like what Tom Waits sounds like
(or vice versa). What a drag it is getting old...

This week Steven Hashimoto will attempt to drag his aging and decrepit body
through the following gigs:

SUN. 2/16: MORTON GROVE PUBLIC LIBRARY, 6140 N. Lincoln. Morton Grove, 2-3pm,
with Sueños Latin-Jazz Quartet (Mike Levin, Bob Long and Heath Chappell);
then later on THE RIVER FOREST PUBLIC LIBRARY, 735 Lathrop Ave., 7:30-8:30pm,
Sueños redux. Better call for info -- 708-366-5205. This may be a closed

MON. 2/17: KRYPTONITE, 308 W. State St. in Rockford, 8-11pm (I'm guessing),
with poet Marc Smith, The Pong Unit (Mike Smith, guitar; Dave Flippo,
keyboards; Ted Sirota, drums) and a fine assortment of local and imported
poets and maniacs.

THURS. 2/20: PABST THEATRE, Milwaukee, WI, I have no other info. With The
Poetry Slam crew. It's also my 50th birthday, if I make it that far...

FRI. 2/21: as always, at THE GREEN MILL, 4802 N. Broadway, 1:30-3:45am, with
The Green Mill Quartet (Barely Winograd, bari sax; Bob Long, piano; Rick
Shandling, drums) for The After-Hours Jam Session.

Early Special Gig Warning: Sueños Sextet returns to The Green Mill, Saturday
March 1! Our special guest will be Neal Alger on guitar, subbing for the
steel-drum chair.

I could use to fill Sat. Feb. 22, as well as most of the Saturdays in March!
Call me at 708-222-6520.

"That's it, Grommit! We'll go somewhere with CHEESE!"
